As XRSource always expects, prior to Halloween, a lot of developers like to announce/launch their horror games. And Wales Interactive was no different, revealing a VR version of its popular title, Maid of Sker. Initially slated for a multiplatform launch this November, currently, Maid of Sker VR has been delayed until the new year for SteamVR.

Maid of Sker VR Delayed
Currently, there’s not much to go on other than the Steam store listing. The page now lists Maid of Sker VR’s release date as “March 2026”. But there’s been no update from Wales Interactive on the page or via social media regarding the delay.
What About the Other Editions?
The lack of information also raises questions regarding the Meta Quest and PSVR 2 editions of the game. At present, the Horizon Store still lists Maid of Sker for November, whilst the PlayStation Store has no listing.
As mentioned, there’s been no official announcement from the studio regarding the current state of Maid of Sker. So we don’t know if both of these versions will be pushed into 2026 to ensure a simultaneous launch. Once we have more details, we’ll let you know.
What is Maid of Sker?
The original flatscreen version of Maid of Sker launched in 2020 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch. Horror gaming fans loved it, hence why we’re excited for the VR edition. Just like its flat-screen sibling, Maid of Sker VR is a survival horror, with its story based on Welsh folklore.
“Set in 1898 and inspired by the haunting Welsh tale of Elisabeth Williams, this is a story of a family empire driven by torture, slavery, piracy and a supernatural mystery that suffocates the grounds of the hotel.”
Focusing on stealth rather than action, the core gameplay loop revolves around “sound-based” enemies known as The Quiet Ones, with players armed with only a defensive sound device.
