What is Cave Crave?
Cave Crave debuted on Meta Quest in July 2025, and has since sold over 50,000 copies according to 3R Games. The game has been heralded as the most realistic caving simulation ever created. Previous updates have expanded the game siginficantly, including the October update which brought the infamous Nutty Putty Cave to VR through a meticulous recreation of the Utah site permanently closed after the tragic 2009 accident.
Cave Crave Update
The biggest drop in the new content update for Cave Crave is a new, Arcade Mode. This is essentially a time trial mode, transforming the spelunking experience into a race against time. Both against your best runs and those of other players. In this mode, players traverse twisting routes through cavernous terrain, triggering checkpoints and pushing to beat their best times.
In addition, Abyss, a new map for the game’s Horror Mode, has arrived. Inspired by cosmic dread and subterranean monstrosities straight out of a Lovecraftian nightmare, you’ll descend into blackened caverns where echoes stir and every shadow hides something ancient and malevolent.
Cave Crave Review
At launch, our friends over at 131XR delivered a review of Cave Crave. The team there stated that the game has a storyline that is enjoyable, but largely ignorable. That doesn’t mean that the adventuring is any less enjoyable however. You should expect a simulation of spelunking, not a terrifying adventure like Tunnels, for example. Well, that is until you factor in Cave Crave‘s horror mode. Watch the review below for more!
