Thief VR to Launch Simultaneously on All Major VR Platforms

Yesterday the news broke that Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow is due to launch on PSVR 2 in December 2025. However, since then Vertigo Games has confirmed that the game will in fact arrive on PSVR 2, Meta Quest and PC VR headsets simultaneously.

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow takes place in a city ruled by the tyrannical Baron Ulysses Northcrest. You are Magpie, a cunning thief shaped by the streets who steals to survive. However, everything changes when you discover something big: a legendary artifact that holds a legacy from the past.

While Thief has previously been seen in VR – a tech demo of 2014’s reboot was showcased on the original PlayStation VR prior to launch – Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow is the first time consumers can experience the world of Thief in VR.

A blend of classic stealth gameplay and modern immersion, you’ll use your body to evade guards and your hands to steal, open secret compartments, and pick locks. You’ll have an arsenal of arrows and tools to distract, take out, or overcome enemies as you climb rooftops, sneak through narrow alleys, and uncover secrets in a gritty, steampunk-inspired world. Each heist offers multiple paths and playstyles, whether you choose to sneak past unnoticed or strike from the shadows.

Living in the Shadows

Since its initial announcement back in June, little has been seen of Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow. We had a somewhat brief gameplay reveal last month, but nothing else. No hands-on previews, no extended trailers, no bullet-pointed fact sheets. You could say that the arrival of Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow has been quite stealthy.

But of course, that’s all changed now. With a launch date for Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow firmly in hand, we can all look forward to what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest VR game releases of 2025.

Thief VR Launch Date

Yesterday, Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow was announced for release on PSVR 2 on 4th December, 2025. Now however, Vertigo Games has confirmed that the game will also launch on Meta Quest and Steam VR for PC VR simultaneously. The game is priced at €29.99 EUR/ $29.99 USD/ £24.99 GBP, and pre-orders are now open with a 10% discount.
