The world of magical experimentation just received a major boost. Developers Aldin Dynamics have released a sweeping content update for their hit wizard simulator Waltz of the Wizard. The Skully’s Fantastic Fails update is now live for players on Steam and Meta Quest – as well as the newly released iOS edition of the game – and coming soon to PSVR 2.

Waltz of the Wizard

Aldin Dynamic’s Waltz of the Wizard is an epic wizardry simulator inspired by classic fantasy fiction. The game’s handcrafted blend of highly interactive fun, mystery, and secrets has sold more than one million copies worldwide. And that’s before taking into account the recent iOS launch. Previously, the game was only available in VR.

In the game, you’ll conjure up awesome magical powers, brew potions and more with the aid of Skully, your chatty, wisecracking, hyper-tormentable skull companion who reacts to everything you do.

Skully’s Fantastic Fails Update

For longtime fans of Waltz of the Wizard the Skully’s Fantastic Fails update is both a reward and an invite. Since its original release, the game has been acclaimed for its immersive approach to wizardry, combining VR, gesture, voice and physical interaction to create something uniquely playful. By adding this new layer of content, Aldin Dynamics is reinforcing the game’s status as a living, evolving simulation of magical play.

Whether you’ve been mixing potions in the Tower for years or are just discovering the game now, the update amplifies the “sandbox of sorcery” feel with fresh playgrounds like the Courtyard rocket pad and richer interactivity with Skully’s expanded chatter and reactions.

This major update introduces several headline features that expand the wizarding playground for players:

  • A brand-new rocket launch section in the Courtyard: Players can now step into the outdoor Courtyard area and conduct wild experiments, building and launching their own rockets (often with hilarious results).
  • Over 1,000 new voice lines and reactions: The game’s unpredictable floating skull companion, Skully, gets even chattier, responding to more player actions, gestures, voice commands and environmental shenanigans.
  • Fully redesigned menu + detailed “Waltz Codex”: A revamped user interface means players have improved access to lore, gameplay mechanics, and secrets via the new in-game “Waltz Codex”.
  • More Tower events: Additional hidden interactions and events inside the Tower environment (the game’s core locale) encourage exploration, discovery and experimentation.

Skully’s Fantastic Fails Review

According to 131XR’s review (below), the Skully’s Fantastic Fails content update positions Waltz of the Wizard as a stronger-than-ever choice for players who crave whimsy, interactivity and magic simulation. The addition of a new rocket section in the Courtyard, the massive expansion of Skully’s reactive palette, the improved menu with a Codex and fresh Tower events all serve to deepen the experience while remaining true to the game’s core playful spirit.

A Comprehensive VR Experimentation Experience

If you’ve ever wanted to unleash wild experiments, bond (or torment) a sarcastic skull companion, and lose yourself in a magical world filled with strange curiosities and secrets, now is a great time to check in. If you’re on Steam, Meta Quest or iOS, the update is available and waiting. PSVR 2 players will have to wait a little longer, with no confirmed date at present.
