It has become more and more commonplace to see VR games embrace co-op gameplay. Some, like the recently released Titan Isles, offer more traditional co-op between friends. Whilst My Monsters delivers a single-player co-op experience. Somewhere in the middle of these is VR Giants, coming soon to Meta Quest headsets.

Giant VR Co-op

What makes VR Giants rather different from other co-op games is the fact that it is co-op only. There’s no single-player option here. That’s because the game features two characters, Goliath, the towering giant, and David, the tiny hero.

A puzzle-filled adventure, as Goliath, players have to create pathways, unblock routes and more for David. Being so big, you get a nice overview of the world, spotting useful items and routes. As David, players can run, jump, dodge hazards, collect coins, and activate switches, working in sync with your giant friend. However, whilst David has complete freedom to run around and explore, Goliath is chained to certain spots, providing help within a limited area.

Cross-Platform Gameplay

Developed by indie team Rias Interactive, VR Giants has been available as an Early Access game on Steam since 2023. The co-op feature on Steam works locally, where the VR player controls Goliath, whilst David is controlled via the PC monitor.

As yet, the studio hasn’t detailed how co-op will work on Meta Quest. Whether both players can use Quests, or if there will be cross-platform support with the PC VR edition, and therefore the flatscreen option might be available.

Release Details

So there are still question to answer regarding VR Giants’ arrival on Meta Quest. The other being its launch date. VR Giants is listed on the Horizon Store, but only as coming soon. Hopefully we’ll have more details to share on this interesting puzzle platformer soon.

While we wait, check out some of the best VR puzzle games to get that grey matter working.
