2017 seems like a lifetime ago when discussing VR technology. Way before standalone headsets like Meta Quest existed, and only a year after Oculus Rift launched, Bolverk Games brought out a fun wave shooter called Dick Wilde. Whilst not necessarily genre-defining, its comedy and gunplay gave it a unique charm. And soon, a whole new generation of VR gamers will be able to enjoy it. As Dick Wilde arrives on Meta Quest 3/3S this week!

Who is Dick Wilde?
Inspired by the American Deep South, Dick Wilde puts you in the shoes of this titular southerner. Good ol’ Dick is a pest controller, and he’s been hired by some locals to rid the nearby lakes and lagoons of some rather nasty and aggressive critters.
From giant alligators and rabid piranhas, through to sharks, bats and other wildlife, Dick needs to clear them all out. Naturally, he has an assortment of weapons to facilitate this. Pistols, shotguns, harpoon guns, and even a bow are on hand.
Dick Wilde features nine levels across three themed areas: swamp, tropical and northern.
What’s New?
For Dick Wilde’s launch on Meta Quest, Bolverk Games hasn’t given the game any sort of major overhaul, it seems. The team notes that the game has received a balancing patch and that’s all.
It’ll be interesting to see how well an eight-year-old, wave-based shooter fairs in today’s far more advanced climate. Especially with no new additions.
Launch Details
Dick Wilde is scheduled to hit Meta Quest 3/3S on 2nd October 2025. There’s been no mention as to whether it’ll support Quest 2, and at present, a store page hasn’t gone live.
