In 2024, indie team Crooks Peak released the action horror By Grit Alone for Meta Quest. Becoming popular with players thanks to its atmospheric gameplay, it’ll soon be PC VR players’ turn. The studio has confirmed that By Grit Alone will arrive on Steam for PC VR headsets next month.

What is By Grit Alone?

Designed as an intense, sci-fi horror shooter, By Grit Alone is filled with challenging bosses, traps, swarms and surprises. The goal is simple: traverse ship to infested ship in any way possible. There are no loading screens, no inventory, and you have unlimited ammo.

What makes the game rather unique is its deep, twisted lore, which players can discover via immersive audio, text and holographic logs. By Grit Alone is actually an anthology of twisted, disturbing tales to discover, written by the talented Antony Johnston (Dead Space) and Emma Beeby (Judge Dredd).

When and Where?

As mentioned, By Grit Alone has been available for Meta Quest headsets for almost a year. The SteamVR launch for PC VR headsets is now slated for late October, with a specific date to be announced. To hold you over, a Steam demo will be available from 1st October. And best of all, any demo progress you make will roll over into the final game.
