Vex Mage to Cast a Spell on Meta Quest & PCVR Next Month

VR gamers have a lot to look forward to this October, with a hectic looking release schedule. Now we can add another title to that growing list, Vex Mage. An intense spell-casting arena shooter, Vex Mage is set to launch on Meta Quest and PCVR platforms next month.

What is Vex Mage?

Developed by Nervous System and published by Fast Travel Games, Vex Mage combines fast-paced action with magical combat. The game has been in development with standalone VR performance in mind, promising smooth and immersive gameplay on standalone headsets like Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3, as well as PCVR via SteamVR.

The game supports both single-player and co-op multiplayer for up to three players, offering dynamic difficulty scaling based on the number of players in a session. This ensures that whether you’re playing solo or with friends, the challenge remains balanced and engaging. Additionally, Vex Mage includes cross-platform multiplayer and global leaderboards. If you’re playing on Meta Quest and PCVR you can compete or team up, regardless of platform. For those who prefer traditional gaming, there’s also a flatscreen mode on PC, making the game accessible even to non-VR users.

Demo Out Now

A free demo of Vex Mage is available now on both Meta Quest and SteamVR. If you’re looking to try before you buy, this is an early hands-on opportunity. The demo focuses on the single-player mode, offering a taste of the elemental fusion system and frantic enemy encounters that define the full game.

For PCVR players, there’s even more to look forward to, as a co-op multiplayer demo will go live during Steam Next Fest, starting on 13th October, 2025. This demo will let up to three players team up and test their skills in collaborative arena battles, with dynamic difficulty that scales based on team size. Both demos are completely free, and progress won’t carry over. But they’re a fantastic way to get hyped for the full release coming later in October.

Vex Mage Release Date

Vex Mage is scheduled to release on Meta Quest on 16th October, 2025, with the Steam/PCVR version launching on 21st October, 2025. This staggered release gives standalone Meta Quest players early access, while PCVR users will benefit from the enhanced visuals and performance available on more powerful systems.
