A new VR game, Remnant Protocol, was previously announced for PC VR, set to launch on Steam later this year. Now, developer Progenitor Game Studios has announced that Meta Quest users won’t be left out in the cold, with a publishing deal from Meta set to bring the game to the standalone headsets also.
What is Remnant Protocol?
Remnant Protocol is billed as ‘a next-gen VR strategy combat experience’. To us however, it looks like a space combat sim.
The game puts the player in command of a galactic rebellion. You’ll raid outposts, make alliances, manufacture ships, research new technologies and lead wingmates in battle. Outnumbered and outgunned against a sprawling empire, you must be resourceful as well as ruthless if they’re to succeed.
According to Progenitor Game Studios, the game has been built from the ground up for VR. The aim is to give players a fully immersive experience where every decision matters and every battle feels real.
“We built this game from the ground up to take full advantage of what VR can do and we couldn’t be more excited to finally get it into players’ hands,” states Scott McCallum, CEO of Progenitor Game Studios Ltd.
Meta Publishing Partner
While the game was initially revealed as a PC title – playable in both traditional flatscreen and VR modes – the game is now also listed on the Meta Store. This comes thanks to a publishing partnership deal with Meta.
“Getting Remnant Protocol listed on the official Meta Store with Meta as our VR publishing partner is a huge milestone for our small team,” said Scott McCallum, CEO of Progenitor Game Studios Ltd.
Remnant Protocol Launch Plans
Meta has signed on as the publishing partner for the VR release, slated for release in Q4 2025. How this affects the PC version of the game is not currently known. However, the Steam Store page for the game remains set for a 2025 release.
With there still being several months until launch, we expect to hear much more about the game in due course.
