Have you ever watched The Descent, a horror movie based on the activity of caving? If you’re not a fan of narrow, dark passageways, then probably not. And likewise for a new upcoming VR title from publisher Mastiff and developer Nomad Monkey, Tunnels. The pair recently announced that Tunnels is set to arrive for Meta Quest next month.

Tunnels Deep Dive
Tunnels is a subterranean horror game. A heart-pounding, claustrophobia-inducing experience where you’ll find yourself trapped deep underground in an abandoned mine shaft. You’ll have to explore these suffocating, subterranean passageways in a bid for freedom. However, you’re not alone down there, and you need to keep a light handy to spot what’s hiding in the darkness.
You may have already encountered Tunnels already, as there’s a multiplayer preview on the Horizon Store already. This co-op mode allows you to team up with friends (or strangers) in a bid for survival. Adding a bit of levity, you can also customise your multiplayer character with unique gear before confronting the mine’s horrors.
The upcoming release will essentially enhance this version, adding a brand-new single-player experience. You’ll have to squeeze through narrow crevices, feel your way through and fight to keep your sanity as you zip line over bottomless chasms and scale sheer cliffs to evade the nightmarish creatures within the mine.
