Take to the Skies in New Aces of Thunder Gameplay Trailer

Aces of Thunder Trailer

Posted on: 27 Mar 2025

When it comes to big online military combat games, Gaijin Entertainment’s War Thunder is one of the most impressive. Back in 2023, the studio announced a VR spinoff called Aces of Thunder for PSVR 2 and SteamVR headsets. Originally slated for release in 2024, that launch was pushed to 2025 due to additional content inclusions. Now, in anticipation of its upcoming launch, the team has a new gameplay trailer for Aces of Thunder.

World War Flight Sim

Rather than War Thunder’s mix of military hardware, Aces of Thunder focuses on WW1 & WW2 warplanes. Part flight sim and part action game, the game is set to feature over 20 iconic aircraft from the early 20th century. These include the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109, the British Spitfire and the Japanese A6M3 Zero.

Featuring highly detailed and accurately reproduced cockpits, pilots will be able to immerse themselves in aerial warfare. Gaijin Entertainment promises 15 maps at launch, replicating locations from WW2 like the Eastern Front, Western Europe, and the Pacific.

In addition to full VR hand controls to pilot the craft, players can also utilise HOTAS flight controllers for the ultimate combat experience!

All of which you can see in the new trailer below!

Launch Details

If you’re one of the many who can’t wait to set into one of these planes’ realistic cockpits, there (hopefully) shouldn’t be too long to wait. Both the PSVR 2 and Steam versions are expected to launch in 2025. Currently, Gaijin Entertainment has yet to specify a release date for either platform.
