Clone Drone What?

Doborog’s Clone Drone series has taken an odd turn. Clone Drone in the Danger Zone launched back in 2017 as an Early Access title. Then, in 2021, a full release came for PC and consoles. The game was very well received, but along this journey there was never any mention of an interest in VR.

Thus, it came as somewhat of a shock after Clone Drone in the Danger Zone proved to be a success that the sequel would be a VR title. And, in fact, a VR-exclusive.

Clone Drone in the Hyperdome has launched on Meta Quest headsets. Suffice to say, we’re super happy Doborog decided to go in this direction. As you’ll see in 131XR’s Clone Drone in the Hyperdome review below, the game is a fantastic, comedic combat simulator in VR.

Clone Drone in the Hyperdome Review

So, what exactly makes Clone Drone in the Hyperdome worth your time? Well, according to 131XR, it’s a combination of several things. The world of Clone Drone is appealing in both visual design and immersion. The characters and storyline are often nonsensical and humorous. But perhaps most important, the combat genuinely feels compelling.

As a clone yourself, you’ll be sent on runs through arenas able to collect a variety of weapons. Each acts exactly as you believe it would. Swing your sword, fire your bow and arrows, wield your pole arm with two hands. And while you’re at it, you should be aiming with precision to take out enemy weak spots. If they’ve got two weapons and one keeps rendering you asunder, take off that arm with a swift strike and even the field!

You can find out all about this and much more in 131XR’s Clone Drone in the Hyperdome review below.

More Cloning Around?

With two successful titles under their belt, Doborog are… doing what, exactly? At present, there’s no indication of what’s coming next. The studio’s website holds about as much information and an empty paper bag. The game displaying the game logos links Clone Drone in the Danger Zone to a separate website for the game, but Clone Drone in the Hyperdome? Nope. Nothing.

What we can tell is that Clone Drone in the Hyperdome has been very well received on Meta Quest. The game currently has a rating on 4.7 on the Meta Quest Store. That’s pretty good.

Whether or not we’ll see more VR from Doborog in the future remains a mystery. But we certainly hope the studio continues to support the medium after the fantastic debut that is Clone Drone in the Hyperdome.
