Alien: Rogue Incursion launched late last year on PlayStation VR 2 and for PC VR. However, more recently we’ve received the Meta Quest version of the game. Our partners over at 131 XR have dived deep into the uncharted planet of Purdan to deliver a full Alien: Rogue Incursion review for Meta Quest headsets.

About Alien: Rogue Incursion

Alien: Rogue Incursion was developed exclusively for VR by Survios. As stated above, the game is available now for PlayStation VR 2, PC VR via Steam, and Meta Quest. Here with the Meta Quest version, the game is limited to Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S only. That means Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro owners will not be able to play the game. Not many titles have such a limitation currently. Batman: Arkham Shadow and Wall Town Wonders, for example. However, as time goes on the number of Meta Quest 3-only releases will increase. Perhaps it’s time for an upgrade?

On the Meta Quest Store, Alien: Rogue Incursion is priced at £30.99. That makes it quite a pricey game. Whether or not it’s worth your investment will, according to the 131 XR team, greatly depend on your expectations.

Alien: Rogue Incursion Review

The biggest question needing an answer is: what kind of game are you expecting? Alien: Rogue Incursion is billed as a horror-shooter. However, in 131 XR’s Alien: Rogue Incursion review, you’ll learn that this isn’t actually how the game plays. You’ll be encountering puzzles and hidden objects more often than enemies. The game plays more like an exploration game. This is largely due to the strange blue hue in the Meta Quest version of the game.

According to 131 XR, every area has significantly increased visibility over the PlayStation VR 2 and PC VR editions of the game. Thus, the xenomorphs can be seen at a much greater distance. This make it much less of a horror game.

However, that’s not to say it’s not worth your time. 131 XR certainly enjoyed the game. You should probably just temper your expectations, as can be seen in the full Alien: Rogue Incursion review below.

What’s next for Alien: Rogue Incursion?

Alien: Rogue Incursion is actually only the first part of the experience. A second release, Alien: Rogue Incursion Part 2, is expected in the near future. This will of course launch on all of the formats the first part is available on, so if you enjoyed this first part you can be sure you’ll be able to play the second release. Survios did get a bit of a backlash from not revealing this earlier in the marketing cycle of the game, but by most accounts it hasn’t hindered Alien: Rogue Incursion‘s chances of success.

Are you a fan of the Alien franchise? It’s certainly had its ups-and-downs. For all the flaws in Alien: Rogue Incursion, it’s certainly not the worst the franchise has seen! If you’re enjoying the game, be sure to let us know in the comments below!
