Meta Connect is coming back in 2025, set to deliver us another year’s worth of XR delights. The official ‘save the date’ has been given by Meta today, with Meta Connect 2025 penned in for 17th-18th September, 2025. However, much of what else to expect is currently being kept secret.
What is Meta Connect?
Meta Connect is the premier annual event from Meta, parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and the Meta Quest range of VR headsets, amongst others. In years prior the event had been held alongside F8, which was the governing Facebook themed event, with Meta Connect as the sideline. However, F8 officially held its last event in 2021. Thus, Meta Connect has by default become the main event in the Meta calendar.
Despite being Meta’s only annual event currently, Meta Connect has retained its focus on AR and VR. There is the occasional dabbling into Facebook, Instagram et al, but by-and-large the focus remains on the Meta Quest headsets and their contemporaries.

The location of Meta Connect 2025 is not yet known. In recent years it’s been held at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, San Francisco. In former years the event was ticketed, but more recently you’ve needed to apply if you wish to attend. There’s currently no information available as to whether this year’s event will be in-person or remote attendance only.
Meta Connect 2025 Agenda
There’s currently no information available on the Meta Connect 2025 agenda. When we have details, we’ll update this page.
However, what we do have is some key information. As well as specifically highlighting ‘AI glasses’, the official announcement of Meta Connect 2025 states: “We’ll share the latest and greatest in Meta Horizon updates, peel back the curtain on tomorrow’s tech, and give XR devs the tools they need to help build for the next computing platform today.”

The History of Meta Connect
Meta Connect made its debut way back in 2014, then known as Oculus Connect. Five editions of the event were held under this name, until the rebranding to Meta Connect in 2019.
The first event was held in LA, and was a pretty subdued affair. VR developers from across the world descended on a hotel near Hollywood and chatted about the technology, their hopes and dreams for it and the potential to one day make money from their work. This was the kind of place where you could demo your latest VR experiment to Oculus Rift inventor Palmer Luckey or sit and have a chat about space robots with John Carmack (that was me, John). The second event followed much the same path, before moving to San Jose in 2016.
The move to Northern California saw the event take on a slightly different form. While still being open to the development community, the event was no more of a showcase platform for Meta than a discussion forum. Keynotes would herald announcements of products targeting mainstream media, demos would be held in booths with appointment bookings necessary.
The event become remote-only during the COVID-19 years, before returning in 2023 for the launch of the Meta Quest 3.
