After much anticipation, Sony has finally released PlayStation VR 2 for PlayStation 5, and it seems to be a hit. Virtual reality developers have been keen to support the device, with launch games and future content. VR veteran nDreams has just announced its latest project, PSVR 2 exclusive Synapse.

From the same studio that created titles such as Fracked and Phantom: Covert Ops, comes another action-packed experience. nDreams call Synapse a “next-generation action shooter”, with gameplay that combines brutal firepower with surging telekinetic abilities.

PSVR 2 Exclusive Synapse

Set in an abstract world that’s mostly black and white with occasional flourishes of colour, nothing has been revealed regarding the narrative. What you can see in the trailer is the gameplay in action. It looks fast and fluid, where you can dual-wield a variety of guns in combination with your telekinesis. The ability to pick up and fling enemies around is further enhanced by PSVR 2’s eye-tracking.

Synapse features

  • Motion-controlled, 1:1 telekinesis with eye-tracking-enhanced aiming that equips players with the power to launch, levitate and smash enemies through destructible environments.
  • Adrenaline-fuelled gunplay engineered for PlayStation® VR2’s Sense™ controllers. Feel every moment through haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
  • A stand-out art style designed to make full use of the PlayStation® VR2’s stunning 4K HDR display.

Synapse is the culmination of a decade of VR-only development,” said James Shepherd, Head of nDreams Studio in a statement. “Following the success of Phantom and Fracked, we challenged ourselves to push VR gameplay to new limits using the power of PSVR 2. The team have more than risen to this challenge and the result is a milestone release that sets the benchmark for our next 10 years of innovation.”

PSVR 2 exclusive Synapse will be coming to the headset in 2023. Are you an early PlayStation VR 2 adopter, what do you think of Synapse? Let us know in the comments below.
