Publisher Make Waves has announce the imminent launch of Slam City, a free-to-play VR basketball game. No specific date has yet been revealed, though the plan is to launch on Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Pico 4 in the very near future.
Slam City propels you straight into the exhilarating rush of a live basketball game. Though, not an entirely realistic one it seems. You’ll be nailing three-pointers, executing gravity-defying dunks, showing off slick crossovers, and delivering monumental blocks. The game is set to feature online multiplayer, allowing you to team up with friends and family, or any other players in 2v2 PVP matches.
“We’re excited to bring Slam City to players around the world,” said Hubert Wang, VP of Marketing & Publishing at Make Waves. “We want to recreate the excitement of high octane sports in a game that is both fun and accessible to everyone, regardless of their skill level. We believe Slam City is the perfect game for basketball fans of all ages.”
The game features realistic physics and intuitive controls. The principle is to make it easy for players of all skill levels to enjoy. Players can also customise their character’s appearance and abilities to create their own unique basketball superstar.
Slam City Launch
As stated above, no specific release date has yet been announced for Slam City. However, the game will debut for Meta Quest headsets via App Lab. PICO headsets will be able to access the game via PICO Lab. Both editions are being treated as a ‘testing phase’, with a full launch to arrive later.
Slam City is being developed by Universe Studio, an in-house team for publisher Make Waves. Based in Singapore, Makes Waves – according to the corporate messaging – is committed to becoming ‘a leading publisher and producer of immersive VR games’.
