Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) and nDreams recently revealed a 26th October, 2023, launch date for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord. While many could’ve guessed a Halloween release was on the cards, there’s another announcement that comes as more surprising. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will support crossplay between PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, and Meta Quest 3 headsets.
In Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, players can gear-up with the latest in ghostbustin’ gadgets. Remote turrets, ghost decoys, and of course the legendary Proton Pack. Players must work together to solve puzzles and trap ghosts, but it’s not just about the bustin’. Mission variety includes collecting ‘dark PKE’, closing interdimensional portals and, of course, taking down the titular Ghost Lord.
“It’s almost time to team up with friends in a new city, with a new crew, in the next big Ghostbusters adventure. We are thrilled to offer players a way to immerse themselves in the world of Ghostbusters like never before, only possible through virtual reality,” says Jake Zim, Senior Vice President, Virtual Reality, Sony Pictures Entertainment. “We’ve still got more surprising news to share, and we can’t wait to get the game in players’ hands October 26, just in time for Halloween!”
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord PSVR 2 Features
While the announcement of crossplay for the game is a very welcome surprise, PSVR 2 gamers will be getting some very special extras. Using the PlayStation 5 hardware allows the game to make use of the PSVR 2’s 4K HDR display, offering an improved graphical fidelity. Eye tracking enhances accuracy, through menu navigation and object interaction. According to SPVR, it also ‘improves communication during cooperative gameplay’.
Headset and haptic feedback are included via the PSVR 2 headset and controllers, and the adaptive triggers will reportedly be put to good use with the wide variety of gadgets at your disposal.
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will launch for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and PSVR 2 on 26th October, 2023. As stated above, crossplay will be available for all three headsets. Are you looking forward to some bustin’ on the streets of San Francisco? Let us know in the comments below!
