It was the XR industry’s worst kept secret that VIVE was due to announce a new headset at CES this year. Following the official teasers, details leaks appeared in every corner of the internet. Today however, the company has gone full tilt, opening VIVE XR Elite pre-orders to everyone.
The VIVE XR Elite is arguably designed to compete with the Meta Quest Pro. This high-end territory is an area in which VIVE has traditionally performed better, as efforts to combat the Oculus Quest and Oculus/Meta Quest 2 haven’t faired so well. Instead of a consumer grade headset, the VIVE XR Elite is designed for high-end and enterprise users.
VIVE XR Elite Pre-Orders
Priced at £1,299 GBP, the VIVE XR Elite certainly isn’t a cheap entry-level device. To sweeten the deal however, VIVE is offering special pre-order incentives. Register your interest now and you’ll receive 5 game titles as an extra bonus. These include:
- Green Hell VR
- Les Mills Bodycombat
- Unplugged: Air Guitar
- Figmin XR
- Glimpse
In order to receive these bonus titles, you must pre-order via the official VIVE XR Elite website before 15th February, 2023.
What’s in the box?
There’s a number of additional accessories also available for the VIVE XR Elite, including a carry case, wrist tracker and a rather expensive ‘streaming cable’. However, as standard the package will include the following:
- VIVE XR headset
- Battery cradle
- Controller (L)
- Controller (R)
- Lanyards x 2
- Microfiber Pouch
- Top Strap
- Type-C to Type-C Cable
- Type-A to Type-C Cable x 2
- Lens Protection Card
- Documentation (QSG / Safety Guide / Warranty Card)
It’s all about the games…
Despite being an enterprise-focused headset, VIVE’s marketing for the VIVE XR Elite seems very game-centric at present. The debut trailer (below) is almost entirely focused on games, including the likes of Hubris and the incredibly popular Demeo.
This, coupled with the fact that the VIVE XR Elite pre-order bonuses are all games, might have you wondering what VIVE’s strategy is exactly.
We’ll give you some thoughts on that soon, but in the meantime, let us know if you’ve put your pre-order in today!
