Ronin Game Studio, a new British VR game studio has unveiled its first project, a horror anthology called Unseen. In a similar form to the highly popular Exorcism of the Legion (Last Rites) – previously known as The Exorcist: Legion VR – Unseen will release instalments episodically, the first coming to Meta Quest this Summer.

A VR Horror Anthology
Three horror experiences are initially planned: Chorus Protocol, Vista Del Mare and The Reservoir. These form Season One of Unseen, suggesting that Ronin Game Studio already has plans for additional seasons. Each instalment will be its own standalone experience, set in different places, time periods, and gameplay styles. They’ll also blend their own unique mix of psychological horror, cosmic dread, and dark science fiction.
“Unseen is inspired by the adrenaline and anticipation many of us experienced visiting haunted attractions as children — but reinvented through the possibilities only VR can offer,” says Patrick Haraguti, Founder, Creative and Technical Director of Ronin Game Studio. “The project draws inspiration from anthology horror such as Love, Death & Robots, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, and classic horror storytelling, while exploring new themes, mechanics, and experiences unique to VR.”
Gameplay
The first to be released is Chorus Protocol, arriving this Summer on Meta Quest. The description explains: “You are The Sentinel, operator of an advanced planetary defence system designed to protect humanity from threats beyond human understanding… But the cosmic entities approaching are unlike anything mankind has ever encountered.”
Your role is to operate this installation by managing its many systems, loading ordnance, maintaining specific level parameters, and, of course, firing the giant gun you’re in command of.
Vista Del Mare, on the other hand, is set in the Summer of 1978, in a once-popular seaside resort. However, this is no idyllic retreat. The resort is now abandoned after a disturbing incident occurred when every guest and staff member vanished without a trace. Can you solve the mystery? Should you? Vista Del Mare is slated to arrive in time for Halloween.
Lastly, The Reservoir is scheduled to launch in early 2027. As the synopsis explains: “Deep beneath an isolated reservoir facility, something lurks in the darkness. What begins as a routine inspection quickly descends into a terrifying encounter with phenomena beyond human comprehension. There is something in the tunnels.”
While Meta Quest is the only confirmed platform at present, Ronin Game Studio does have plans to release Unseen for every major VR headset at a later date.
A History in Horror
Ronin Game Studio are no stranger to VR horror. As it turns out, founder Patrick Haraguti served as CTO at Fallen Planet Games, the British studio behind early horror success Affected: The Manor. A haunted house, walking simulator that originally arrived for headsets like Gear VR and Oculus Rift, Affected: The Manor expanded its presence with speed run modes and The Darkness expansion, where players only had candlelight to guide the way.
