Monster Moon has announce that their VR arena shooter Marrow Marrow is out now on Meta Quest and SteamVR for PC VR. You’ll enter the arena facing off against a wide variety of enemies in score run based combat, equipped with the finest array of deadly weapons that VR can offer.
Marrow Marrow’s Arena Based Combat
The game is a purely combat-focused experience. You’ll wield deadly weapons from a variety of seven arm cannons, each with both primary and secondary fire modes. Then there’s another seven should cannons to boot. All of this is, of course, so you can take on the swarms of enemies known as Vermin.
15 enemy types are included in the game, each requiring a different tactical approach. There’s also two mini-bosses and one final boss to round out each run. Yes, we say ‘run’, because the game is very definitely a score run based game. You’ll play through more than 20 arenas as you attempt to climb the leaderboards.
Speed on the Agenda
It’s not just about target practice, however. The game combines fast-paced combat with nimble parkour mechanics that allow you to traverse across towering levels at lightning speed. On your offhand you’ll be equipped with a Grappling Claw, and the arenas are littered with bounce pads, magnetic rail walls, and more. Slide on walls, dash through the air, and charge head first into danger to get the upper hand as you rain down destruction on the foul Vermin onslaught.
As you complete levels you’ll unlock new upgrades, and these include new movement mechanics. It’s not quite a roguelike, but similar mechanics do exist in that genre. You can drift smoothly across platforms or hover through the air as you unlock new ‘leg types’. This, along with more than 10 mutators that add new game rules such as low gravity, add a great deal of variety to each run.
Marrow Marrow Launch
The game is available now for Meta Quest and PC VR, via the Meta Quest Store and SteamVR respectively. The game is priced at $13.99 USD, with a 10% launch discount. There is also a free demo available on Steam.
