IRON GUARD: Salvation, the sci-fi hybrid tower defence and real-time strategy title from Xlab Digital, is confirmed to launch on PSVR2 next month. A sequel to the original Iron Guard from 2021, IRON GUARD: Salvation debuted on Meta Quest last year and will soon be available as a console VR title for the first time.

A Tower Defence Strategy Built Fully for VR
IRON GUARD: Salvation blends classic tower defence base building with real-time strategic control and direct combat interaction. It’s up to you to defend humanity against overwhelming waves of robotic invaders. The game combines traditional tower defence gameplay – overhead strategic planning through placing turrets, managing harvesters and factories, and selecting upgrades — with the option to manually engage combat using a handheld drone. This dual approach allows players to shift between broad battlefield control and focused action in immersive space.
The PSVR2 version’s mechanics will be identical to that of the Meta Quest edition of the game. You’ll be physically aiming, firing, and interacting with units and structures via motion controls. Multiple heroes with unique abilities also factor into tactical choices, giving you diverse approaches to scenario challenges. A roster of over 25 turret types and scalable difficulty options further underlines the game’s hybrid strategy/action design.
A Brief History of Iron Guard
As stated above, the series began with the original IRON GUARD, a VR tower defence title released in 2021 on SteamVR and later on Meta Quest headsets. This debut garnered a positive reception thanks to its strategic depth and immersive mechanics. The first game laid the groundwork for IRON GUARD: Salvation, which expands the formula with new modes and refined resource systems.
Originally released in August 2025 on Meta Quest and SteamVR, IRON GUARD: Salvation also builds on the first title an expanded campaign. The announcement of a PSVR2 launch continues the game’s multi-platform rollout. Xlab Digital’s strategy is clearly to bring VR strategy experiences to a broad range of headsets and audiences.
IRON GUARD: Salvation for PSVR2
With its PSVR2 launch confirmed, IRON GUARD: Salvation will be part of a growing slate of strategy-oriented VR titles in 2026. The PSVR2 release date has been set for 5th March, 2026.
