Meditation apps have existed since the early days of the Meta Quest. Some have focused on tranquil, realistic surroundings, and others have tried a more ancient approach using techniques like Tai Chi. Then there are those like Tripp who seek to use mesmerising visuals and audio cues to relax or energise your brain. Brain Candy falls into the latter, and as 131XR finds in its review, delivers on that immersive promise.

Sweet Thinking

Having launched as an Early Access title over a year ago, Brain Candy is now available as a complete wellness app. It uses a mixture of strobing lights, binaural audio, and haptic feedback to produce emotional responses. Whether you’re after deep relaxation, laser focus, or energised flow, for example.

What some may describe as a trippy VR experience, Brain Candy uses scientific techniques that have long been studied to have a positive effect on the brain.

And that certainly seems to be the feeling from 131XR’s review of Brain Candy. Featuring a huge array of sessions, these cover aspects of relaxation, focus, guided, energise and more. What itbiols down to is a lot of psychedelic visuals and ambient sounds. These can range from slow and mellow to far more dramatic and intense sequences.

While it certainly isn’t a VR app for everyone, for those looking at meditative experiences, Brain Candy comes recommended.

What Next?

Brain Candy already includes a fairly extensive selection of sessions to kick back and relax to. But XRSource hears the devs are planning more no that the offical release has happened. No details just yet as to what will arrive or when, but we’re that chill at the moment we don’t mind.
