The highly anticipated VR modding platform Beyond Sandbox has formally revealed a confirmed release date. The announcement on both the Steam store and the Meta Quest listing signals that this next-generation sandbox experience is finally transitioning out of development and into players’ VR headsets very soon.

What is Beyond Sandbox?
Beyond Sandbox positions itself not as a traditional game, but as a cooperative VR modding and physics platform. You’ll be able to build, play, and share entirely new VR experiences.
The title combines advanced physics interactions with user-created content tools and multiplayer support. The aim is to open up possibilities similar in spirit to creative environments like Garry’s Mod or Dreams, but tailored specifically for immersive VR and social play. Beyond Sandbox‘s Reality SDK enables modders to craft new game modes, environments, and interactions without needing extensive external tooling.
Multiplayer, Physics, and Persistent Worlds
One of Beyond Sandbox’s defining features is its emphasis on multiplayer. Both co-operative and competitive modes will be supported, allowing you to collaborate or test creations together. Advanced physics interactions mean objects, structures, and combat all respond realistically, providing a sense of presence and manipulation that matches the expectations of modern VR users.
Unlike more scripted VR titles, Beyond Sandbox intentionally blurs the line between “gameplay” and “creation.” You can host experiences privately with friends, explore community hubs for new mods, or take part in evolving public spaces shaped by other users. This open-ended design aligns with the growing trend in VR towards user-generated content and long-lasting platform ecosystems.
Cross-Platform Availability
According to the Meta Horizon Store listing, Beyond Sandbox will be available on Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro at launch. It will support for standing, seated, and room-scale experiences. The Steam version will support PC VR headsets via SteamVR, ensuring that both standalone and tethered players have access to the platform on release.
This cross-platform reach is notable. Opening up two ecosystems will extend the reach of the application, allowing for much more user-generated content to be shared from day one.

Beyond Sandbox Release Date
At launch, Beyond Sandbox will include three starter experiences designed to showcase the platform’s capabilities: a competitive shooter, a zombie horde mode, and a foundational sandbox environment. However, the real potential does of course lie in the modding community.
Beyond Sandbox now has a confirmed release date of 26th March, 2026. It’s shaping up as more than ‘just’ a VR game. It is a platform for creativity, collaboration and community-driven content that could keep the VR ecosystem active and evolving long after its initial launch.
