Huge fantasy adventure games like Arken Age or Asgard’s Wrath 2 are a core part of the VR ecosystem. Multiplayer games may have taken hold, but there are still many gamers who love a good single-player adventure. And later this month, another is set to arrive in the form of EXD – Extra Dimensional.

EXD – Extra Dimensional Explained
Developed by indie team Lords of Illusion, EXD – Extraddimensional is part sci-fi and part fantasy adventure. You step into the shoes of Max Ventura, just your everyday delivery guy. That is, until one day when a dimensional rift suddenly opens in the middle of the warehouse you’re in, transporting you to the strange world of Erath. This fantasy realm has been shaped by the relics of Earth, turning it into a land full of dragons, mutant creatures, and magic.
You have to survive this hostile landscape on your own, but thankfully, some Dimensional Guardians have bestowed you with a Quantum Glove. This grants you all sorts of abilities, like telekinesis and control of the elements, unleashing fireballs and lightning bolts upon your enemies.
While you can wield legendary weapons and discover ancient artefacts, EXD – Extraddimensional’s core gameplay revolves around those gloves. They’ll help you fight enemies, solve puzzles and eventually help you uncover the truth about theĀ First Chosen.
Launch Details
EXD – Extraddimensional looks like it’s going to be a stunning game when it arrives this February on SteamVR. Pricing details have yet to be announced, and neither has a precise release date.
Which seems to be a common thread this month. As you’ll notice from our new VR games for February roundup, there are quite a few titles awaiting a specific release date. So we’ll likely hear about these very last minute.
Best Sci-fi VR Games
As mentioned, EXD – Extraddimensional joins a long, impressive lineup of sci-fi and fantasy games in VR. There are the big hitters like Half-Life: Alyx and Fallout 4 VR, to the surreal Into the Radius and the puzzle-oriented Red Matter 2. And then you’ve got the indie gems, games such as Metacity Patrol and Vertigo 2.
Will EXD – Extraddimensional find its audience within this maelstrom? We’ll find out later this month. Let us know your impressions in the comments.
