The rhythm-action game Smash Drums has received a new Campaign Mode on PSVR2, expanding the gameplay beyond its original Arcade and Freestyle modes. The update, which also arrived on Meta Quest platforms, introduces the God of Drums campaign and is now accessible to PSVR2 players through the game’s main menu.

About Smash Drums
Developed by PotamWorks SAS, Smash Drums is a VR rhythm-action game centred on physically playing drums to the beat of rock and other music tracks. The game originally launched on Meta Quest in late 2021 and later received a dedicated port to PSVR2 in May 2025, with support for features like native 120 fps performance mode and PSVR2-specific enhancements such as adaptive trigger support and headset haptics.
Since its launch, Smash Drums has offered a rhythm-based experience in VR with multiple difficulty levels and support for multiplayer play. The game’s catalogue includes a variety of tracks as standard, and has also received additional music packs. DLC, such as the 2000s Rock Legends pack featuring licensed artists, have expanded the tracklist available to players.
God of Drums Campaign Mode
The new God of Drums mode builds on the game’s core mechanics by adding structured progression and mission-based challenges. Rather than simply playing individual songs for score, Campaign Mode offers over 100 missions that guide players through a series of objectives based on performance. These objectives may require earning a certain number of stars, achieving accuracy thresholds, or completing challenges across different rhythm styles.
Players begin as a novice drummer and work their way up through a progression system that conceptually resembles an RPG career path. Successfully completing missions unlocks new stages and cosmetic rewards. Campaign missions rotate through existing rhythm formats such as Arcade, Fusion, and Classic modes. Each mode alters the way notes are presented and requires players to adapt their timing and movement accordingly. This variation provides a sense of pacing and accomplishment as players move through the Campaign ladder.
Smash Drums Parity on PSVR 2
For PSVR2 owners, the addition of campaign content adds a goal-oriented layer to a title mainly known for its pick-up-and-play rhythm gameplay. Where Smash Drums previously focused on standalone tracks and general score-based play, the Campaign Mode places emphasis on longer play sessions and structured progression.
The Campaign Mode is now available on PSVR2 as a free update. Is this enough to pull you back into Smash Drums? Let us know in the comments below!
