Metacity Patrol is one of those games that came out of nowhere. There was no hype, no clearly visible marketing and little social media activation. In an era of highly disposable media, you could easily assume it was yet another throwaway game on Meta Quest. Yet to do so would be foolish, as Metacity Patrol has proven to be one of the most inventive VR games of 2025.

Cyberpunk Shenanigans
The game casts players as a futuristic officer tasked with patrolling the towering metropolis of Metacity — a world inspired by classic cyberpunk aesthetics reminiscent of Blade Runner. Metacity Patrol blends free-roaming action, futuristic law enforcement, and immersive worldbuilding in one sprawling neon-soaked package. The game leverages VR to create a convincing cyberpunk world. Starting with the upper city rooftops and neon drenched skyline, players pilot their patrol air car through the skies filled with towering holograms, before descending down to streets in dark, sprawling districts.
The game isn’t a linear experience. You are free to explore, interact, and engage with the world on your own terms. The game offers up missions to the player but also combines these with free-roaming exploration with a variety of missions and side activities. While law enforcement tasks may be your bread-and-butter, you’ll also find courier missions and engaging content within the city’s underbelly.
Metacity Patrol Review
Most recently, VR content creator 131XR published a review of the game on YouTube (embedded below). They discussed in detail the game’s atmospheric cityscape, flying mechanics, and sandbox-style gameplay that strongly appeals to fans of immersive VR experiences. The game’s visual design and attention to environmental detail are key to its immersive appeal, whether cruising at high speed above the city or touching down to walk the gritty streets below. This commitment to atmosphere is one of the core reasons VR players often cite Metacity Patrol as a standout standalone VR title.
One of the Most Underrated Games of 2025
Debuting as an Early Access title, the game has seen continuous updates and improvements since launch. It’s now left Early Access with a full v1.0 release on the Meta Horizon Store. The game’s compelling cyberpunk aesthetic, immersive city exploration and diverse mission types – yet complete lack of recognition – have lead it to become one of the most underrated VR games of 2025.
Whether you’re a VR veteran looking for your next deep dive into a futuristic world or a newcomer drawn in by the glowing neon vistas, Metacity Patrol delivers an engaging playground where exploration never sleeps, and the patrol never ends.

About Norain Studio
Metacity Patrol was developed and published by Norain Studio, a two-person team debuting with this title. Frankly, for such a small studio Metacity Patrol is an incredible feat. The game deserves far more recognition than it has yet received. The game has a very high review rating from consumers, and yet press and content creators seem to have largely ignored the game.
If you’re looking to pick up a new sci-fi game for your Meta Quest this week, Metacity Patrol should definitely be top of your list. Have you already played the game? Let us know in the comments below!
