What do you get if you mix Superhot, John Wick, and Borderlands together, then drench it all in dystopian cyberpunk cel-shaded aesthetics? We’re not entirely sure, but it might look somewhat like Smasher, the latest game to arrive for Meta Quest.

What is Smasher?

Described by indie studio Smasher Team as “a neon arcade adventure with disposable guns”, Smasher looks like a non-stop ride into the darker side of Tron. Defeat hordes of enemies with an assortment of guns, such as flamethrowers, void cannons, shotguns, katanas with death energy waves and more. As mentioned, there’s no need to hang onto your favourite ones, simply throw an empty gun away and choose and new one to continue the carnage.

Guns aren’t the only thing in your arsenal. You can also deploy a range of offensive, protective and supportive spells to aid you in battle. Fireballs, frost rays, void shields and telekinesis are just some of the magical abilities on offer.

And that’s handy, because along the way you’ll also encounter epic boss fights, with giant beasts such as Mother Drone, Crystal Elemental, and the colossal Rift Titan.

Smasher Launch Details

As the headline suggests, Smasher is available now, not only for Meta Quest but also on SteamVR. Released yesterday, 24th December, you don’t often get games arriving this late in the month.

Furthermore, if you do head on over to Steam, you’ll find a free demo available. So you can smash (sorry) out a few goes before buying.

And so Ends 2025

Smasher will quite possibly be the last VR game to arrive in 2025. And what a year it has been! Looking back, here are The Best VR Games of 2025 so you can see our top picks.
