Initially announced for PC VR, Progenitor Game Studios revealed that Remnant Protocol will also be coming to Meta Quest earlier this year. Now the studio has gone one step further. The game is confirmed for a launch in Early Access in March, 2026.
Remnant Protocol Gameplay
Remnant Protocol is space combat sim where you’ll take the lead in a galactic rebellion. Progenitor Game Studios promise this will be delivered through intense dogfighting and strategic base management.
From a hidden rebel base, you’ll raid outposts, forge alliances, manufacture ships, and lead wingmates into battle against a totalitarian regime. All while evading detection. Every operation advances the rebellion but increases the enemy’s hunt for your location. The game draws inspiration from classics like TIE Fighter and Wing Commander, with a strategy layer mechanic similar to the new XCOMs.
PCVR First, Then Meta Quest
The project was initially revealed as a PC VR and flatscreen game, with interest building as it appeared on Steam. As the game continued to take shape through 2024 and 2025, Progenitor Game Studios announced an expanded focus on VR. A key development in this evolution came when the studio secured a publishing partnership with Meta, bringing Remnant Protocol to the Meta Quest Store with Meta as its official VR publishing partner.
Under this agreement, the title is slated to debut on standalone Meta Quest headsets alongside or shortly after its broader PC release. As is evidenced by the upcoming Early Access launch.
Remnant Protocol Early Access Launch
Remnant Protocol is set to launch as an Early Access title on 12th March, 2026. This first release of the game features a standalone roguelite prologue set centuries before the main campaign. You’ll lead a flotilla of survivors through a galaxy-hopping adventure with the game’s full strategic systems: intelligence, research, operational logistics, and politicking. The studio plans to expand the mode with mutators, prestige systems, and meta-progression based on player feedback.
