Starlight Games announced their MR-centric House of Golf VR last month, and now it’s available to purchase for Meta Quest. As the name suggests, the game is playable in VR, however the marketing materials have definitely concentrated on the MR element of the game.

VR or MR?

House of Golf VR allows you to transform any space into a personalised mini-golf adventure. Through using the Meta Quest headset’s MR functionality, you can blend physical and virtual worlds, creating your own mini golf course anywhere. Everyday spaces such as living rooms, kitchens, garages, and even gardens and offices can be transformed into dynamic courses.

You can create your courses using hundreds of unique pieces, hazards, and whimsical items. From mechanical cranes to hot air balloons, creators can design their ultimate mini-golf experience.

As stated above, you can also play the game in VR. Predesigned locations are filled with interactive puzzles and competitive championships. All the while you’ll be striving to discover mystery boxes that hide rare golf balls.

House of Golf VR Community

Whatever you choose to build, you should be sure it’s something that makes you proud. House of Gold VR allows you to share your creations with other players. Every course can be recorded, photographed, and shared, encouraging creativity and discovery.

Starlight Games seems to be keen on the community aspect of the game. VR is often considered a solitary experience as it closes you off from other people. MR however? This technology allows you to remain engaged with people in your local vicinity. House of Gold VR is striving to mix the two, allowing you to play with friends and family in your home, as well as share with others online.

Starlight Games

Starlight Games is a Liverpool, UK, based games studio developing cross platform titles. The studio made a name for itself with the successful 2024 release of House of Golf 2 on multiple formats. The team has stated that House of Golf VR is also ‘cross-platform’, however they haven’t confirmed any additional formats. As such, in this case we take it to mean MR and VR, opposed to multiple releases on different platforms.

House of Golf VR is available on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. The game is priced at £13.99 GBP. Will you be teeing-off in MR this week? Let us know in the comments below!
