Mixed reality games are still trying to make their mark on Meta Quest. Some have been more ingenious than others, but the arrival of Laser Dance could set a new precedent. Created by indie developer Thomas Van Bouwel, Laser Dance is set to hit Meta Quest headsets in a couple of weeks.

Doing the Laser Dance
Much like Van Bouwel’s previous game, Cubism, Laser Dance offers a simple premise. Emulating classic spy movies where the hero has to dodge a series of lasers, Laser Dance adapts to your play space, providing an ever-more difficult set of challenges.
Players set up two buttons on either end of the room, the idea being that they have to navigate between them, dodging lasers en route. Essentially a laser obstacle course, for its Early Access launch in November, Laser Dance will feature 18 levels across three different stages. These stages will deliver various new laser types for players to avoid, from fixed red lasers to moving yellow ones.
There are also unlockable challenges that will have you replaying previous levels in new ways. The developer also plans on adding new features during Early Access, too.

When and Where?
Laser Dance will arrive on the 6th November 2025, exclusively for Meta Quest 3 & 3S headsets as an Early Access title. While the game was originally designed on the Quest 2, the complexity of its mixed reality is only suitable for Meta’s current-gen headsets.
As you may already be aware, Laser Dance already has similar competition. Finnish studio Breach released Lazer Matrix as an Early Access game earlier this month. So it’ll be interesting to see how both of these titles compare.
