A couple of years ago, Gaijin Entertainment announced plans for a spinoff of its hugely popular multiplayer War Thunder. Called Aces of Thunder, the focus is on aerial combat featuring planes from World War I and World War 2. Now the studio has released a new trailer, suggesting the imminent launch of Aces of Thunder for PSVR 2 and PCVR.

Gaijin Entertainment has intermittently dabbled with VR over the years. The studio’s hugely successful War Thunder saw support for PC VR headsets added, and various tech demos have shown interest has not waned since. Aces of Thunder was the next big push for VR from Gaijin Entertainment, but now it seems that non-VR players will also be able to get in on the action.

Back in 2023, the studio announced a VR spinoff called Aces of Thunder for PSVR 2 and SteamVR headsets. Originally slated for release in 2024, that launch was pushed to 2025 due to additional content inclusions. Now, in anticipation of its upcoming launch, the team has a new gameplay trailer for Aces of Thunder.

Contrary to it’s inspiration however, Aces of Thunder will not be a free-to-play title. Instead, all aircraft that would be a part of this game or its future add-ons will be available immediately upon purchase, and the players will be able to apply cosmetic items to customise their planes.
