It’s becoming more commonplace in videogames to see new life breathed into older titles with a remake. In VR it’s very rare, but that’s exactly what Mighty Eyes is doing with Wanderer. The time-travelling adventure has been overhauled into Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, which is out today for most VR headsets.
The original Wanderer launched in 2022 to a reasonable response. The narrative takes to to iconic moments in mankind’s history like the moon landing or playing at Woodstock. Mixed in were escape room-style puzzles, utilising technology of the era to solve the elaborate challenges whilst uncovering the rich narrative.
But then last year the studio revealed plans to entirely rework the game. They’ve overhauled not only the visuals but added new gameplay mechanics as well.
The all-new Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate
There’s a huge list of additions and enhancements to Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, from the core visuals to the avatars and the physical mechanics. All of which should make the game more immersive and exciting to play.
New Wanderer features:
- Full body avatars – A dynamically responsive avatar, as well as eye-tracking (on PSVR 2), create an experience designed to give players more presence than ever before.
- New physics-driven platforming – Players the ability to explore and interact with our worlds in new and creative ways. Swim, jump, crouch, climb, zipline and swing your way through a variety of rich environments
- Samuel makeover (the watch) – A new user interface, storage system, time-travelling upgrade and an ingenious new feature—the Echo Diviner—allowing you to locate lost items.
- Three new levels
- New combat system – Designed around a new set of weapons, ammo and enemies allowing players to be more creative with how they solve the various combat situations they encounter through time.
Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate is available today for Meta Quest, PSVR 2, Pico and PCVR headsets on Steam.
