Undead Citadel PSVR 2 Will Redefine VR Melee Combat

Undead Citadel keyart

The forthcoming Undead Citadel for PSVR 2, Meta Quest 2 and PC VR is causing quite a stir. Developed by Barcelona based Dark Curry, the game has been building anticipation thanks to it’s deep VR melee combat systems. The game is set to debut very soon, so here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new game.

Undead Citadel has been built exclusively for VR. The game will immerse you in an adventure through – you guessed it – a citadel. Lost in a storm, you take refuge in what seems to be an abandoned construct. However, you’ll soon discover that it’s crawling with the undead. Armed with little more than a sword, you’ll have to fight your way through hordes of enemies. Search for new weaponry to gain the advantage, and solve puzzles to dive deeper into the citadel.

The game will offer more than 60 unique weapons. Both ranged and melee are available, but it’s certainly the former that has VR audiences most excited. Dozens of different enemies will attack the player, many in different states of decomposition. Before you attack, you’ll need to be aware of their different armors, protections and weapons. As you fell your enemies, be sure to check the strength and durability attributes of their dropped weapons. You never know when you’ll find your next big hitter!

Is Undead Citadel on Quest 2?

As stated above, yes, Undead Citadel will also launch on Meta Quest 2. In fact, the Quest 2 headset – like most VR games at present – is one of the leading platforms for Dark Curry’s development. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Undead Citadel for PSVR 2 will be held back by development being lead on lower grade hardware, however. There are many titles that have been launch on both headsets and seen significant technological improvements on PSVR 2.

Undead Citadel on PS4?

While Undead Citadel has been confirmed for PSVR 2, there’s no word on a release for the original PlayStation VR. The game has been designed exclusively for VR, so a release on the base PS4 console without VR compatibility is highly unlikely, and given that attentions have turned to the newer model, we can’t see Dark Curry supporting the original PlayStation VR any time soon.

Undead Citadel PSVR 2 Release Date

Undead Citadel is due for release on Steam on 8th June, 2023. However, there is currently no word on the release date of the PSVR 2 version. A PlayStation Store page has gone live, but does not offer any specific details. Likewise, the native Meta Quest 2 version does not have a confirmed release date at present.
