Old School Gun Slinging
Vigo Creative is unashamedly honest about its inspiration for Wild West Panic, delivering an experience like the “old arcade games of yesteryear”. Delivering a slice of Western-themed, wave-shooter action, like many a VR game did ten years ago, Wild West Panic looks to create the kind of energy previously seen in games such as Dick Wilde.
You’ve got guns, and you’ve got targets to shoot. The quicker you shoot them the better, and that’s about it.
Wild West Panic Gameplay
With a pistol in each hand, all the enemies have been designed as if they’re from a shooting range. Wooden/cardboard cutouts that pop out of the scenery for you to blast away at. The quicker you kill them, the more points you accrue, and the higher up the leaderboard you go.
There are some interesting additions to Wild West Panic that may entice players. Yes, there are boss fights, each with its own mechanics and patterns to learn. But there are also ever-changing levels that rotate over time, picking your next fight from ‘Wanted’ posters in the main lobby.
Those ‘Wanted’ posters each have a cash bounty to claim. That money can then be used to unlock new buildings and expand the game even further.
Early Access Launch
Wild West Panic will initially launch as an Early Access game for Meta Quest today. Vigo Creative has also confirmed that SteamVR and Pico editions are on the way, though no timeframe has been confirmed.
What do you think of this Wild West shooter? Is it the type of game you’ve been looking for this summer? Let us know in the comments.
