Earlier this week, Steel Wool Studios released PSVR 2 support for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic on PS5. However, there was some confusion from the announcement, with initial expectations that the Steam edition would also receive VR support the same day. That didn’t happen. However, the studio has also confirmed that Secret of the Mimic is coming to Meta Quest.

What’s going on?
On 28th April, Steel Wool Studios launched Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic VR for PSVR 2. Having initially said that the SteamVR version would arrive the same day, it turns out that was incorrect. The PCVR edition is still on its way, though, the studio confirming that: “We are currently testing the launch build for our PCVR version via Steam.” This is likely to arrive shortly. So that’s good news.
Furthermore, Meta Quest owners will be glad to hear that Secret of the Mimic will be coming to the headset later this year. Unlike the PS5 and Steam versions, which have seen VR support added to the flatscreen game, Quest will be purely VR.
PSVR 2 Updates
As for now, PSVR 2 players are able to enjoy the frights of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic VR, with plenty of positive feedback from those that have tried it. There are some bugs still to iron out, however. Steel Wool Studios is going to address the following identified issues:
- A Save State issue with the star in the Moon maze
- Distractable mice are not displaying in the Inventory Station
- Wardrobe hiding places not having the correct view point from inside
- Some ending credits are displayed only for one eye
- Various missing audio cue issues
- Miscellaneous QOL bug fixes
- Adding teleport as a movement style
Secret of the Mimic Details
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic VR was a surprise launch, considering it was only revealed a week before release. Veterans of the franchise will know that each FNaF game follows a similar dynamic, where players have to survive the night, completing mini-games as murderous animatronics appear out of the darkness trying to kill them.
Secret of the Mimic is the eleventh mainline game, and introduces The Mimic, a prototype endoskeleton that can adapt to any costume and become any character. The flatscreen version was well received in 2025, and in VR, it’s likely to be even more terrifying.
