Back in September of 2025, Bowl of Tentacles and JanduSoft announced plans to bring psychological horror Evil Inside to VR. Originally, that was meant to happen earlier this year, hitting both Meta Quest 3/3S and PSVR 2. That didn’t happen, but now Evil Inside VR is slated for a May launch.

The Final Delay?

It was in November 2025 that JanduSoft first set a launch date, earmarking 5th February. When that day came and went, the next day proposed was next week, 23rd April. It seems that porting the game to VR has hit a few unexpected hiccups along the way. Now, the publisher has settled on 7th May 2026 for Evil Inside VR.

At this point, XRSource will take this date with a little pinch of salt. Hopefully, for VR horror fans on Meta Quest 3/3S and PSVR 2, that date sticks.

What is Evil Inside VR?

If you weren’t aware, Evil Inside first graced consoles and PC back in 2021. For Evil Inside VR, the teams haven’t merely added motion controls and a few VR tweaks. Instead, the VR port has been completely revamped.

“This new version introduces a fully revamped sound system to create an oppressive atmosphere, updated lighting designed to generate constant tension, controls completely adapted for VR, and changes to both the narrative and puzzle design,” says JanduSoft. “Everything has been crafted so players truly feel inside the house and experience the horror firsthand.”

The game is a psychological horror revolving around the protagonist Mark. A clamatous family event sees his mother die and his father arrested. Trying to commune with his mother through a Ouija board, this explodes, and Mark then has to search the house for the scattered pieces. However, this leads to a series of paranormal events that begin to torment him.

Summer Horrors

While we always expect a concentrated selection of horror games in October, during Spring/Summer, it can be more scattershot. For VR horror fans, however, there’s currently a growing selection of titles available or set to arrive. Besides Evil Inside VR in May, Star Trek: Infection arrived at the end of March, Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes lands next week, and AFFECTED: The Asylum is slated for this summer.

Plenty of opportunities to scare yourself.
